Trips from May, 2008
Sturtevant Falls
A friend and I did this not too long hike today in Angeles National Forest. Sturtevant Falls is accessible from the Chantry Flats Ranger Station, which is at the end of the road passing through the Santa Anita Canyon. This is the canyon that was burning last week and the opening of the canyon definitely still showed the charred remains of quite a bit of vegetation.
Hoegee's Loop
The trip for this weekend was again from Chantry Flats, but this time down into the canyon on a steep switchback trail and then backup through Hoegee's Campground and Upper Winter Creek. Beautiful views at both the bottom of the canyon and of Santa Anita Canyon from the canyon side. Take a look at my pictures of Hoegee's Loop.
Eaton Canyon
With a hot, hot weekend (almost 100 degrees) all I had the energy for was to go to Eaton Canyon, where at least the water was flowing well. I didn't even bring my SLR - just my SD870. And the heat didn't help me want to take any photos, so all I'm posting is one photograph of the waterfalls, which did look quite nice.
Trail Canyon Falls
Today was supposed to be a hike up Cucamonga Mountain with the Meetup.com group. Unfortunately, due to the recent bad weather that was canceled and so instead I went on a hike up Trail Canyon. Beautiful scenery, though somewhat dull colors due to the overcast skies. Take a look at the photographs.
