At Ventura Harbor

By David Levitan - Posted on September 06, 2009

Docking a boat is not the easiest thing in the world. It gets harder when you have to contend with a sea lion taking up of the dock. Part of the dock space we were assigned today at Ventura Harbor (where we had sailed for dinner) was occupied with a rather large sea lion, who completely ignored us until I tried to get a bit too close to him (I had wanted to run a line to the cleat behind him). Luckily he was at the end of the dock, so it wasn't too big an issue. He was gone by the time we got back from the restaurant.

Winter in Los Angeles

On my way through the mountains north of LA on I-5, I got these pictures of all the snow. It was a gorgeous drive. Apparently there had been over a foot of snow two nights before, this was all that was left.

Wildlife at my Parents' House

Who says there's no wildlife in the suburbs? My mom feeds some stray cats in their neighborhood, and the skunks and raccoons eat the leftovers. Here's some photos of a baby skunk and a baby racoon:

Deer at JPL

Coming out of my meeting at JPL, I found two of our most esteemed senior scientists/lawn mowers. Why they weren't wearing badges, I don't know, but I'm sure they had full security clearances.
